Earth’s Answer Gardening & Ecological Rehabilitation is a locally homegrown Durham North Carolina company. We are a small company focused upon creating sustainable and mutually beneficial relationships with our clients. Through our practices and with the services we offer Earth’s Answer Gardening also endeavors to promote, to contribute to, and to foster local ecological practices and ecological ways of living.

Focus is upon modification of an area for cultivation and maintenance of lawns, flowers, fruits, vegetables, and or any variety of ornamental plants.

Ecological Rehabilitation

Focus is on historical or pre-existing ecosystems

as models or references. Emphasizes the repair of

the biological community of interacting organisms

and their physical environment.

  ¤ local species inventories

  ¤ natural areas assessment & stewardship

  ¤ habitat modeling & rehabilitation

  ¤ substrate enrichment

  ¤ promotion of community biota

e.g. use of native plants, foster populations of beneficial

animals (lady bugs, earthworms, birds, praying mantis, etc...)

  ¤ mitigation of invasive species

About us:

Earth’s Answer Gardening was started by Kacie Martin. Kacie has a BS in biology from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana and has an interdisciplinary PhD from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. At the University of North Carolina (UNC), Kacie was a graduate teaching assistant and supplemental lecture instructor in UNC's Department of Biology.

In addition to organic gardening experience, Kacie's experiences in the natural sciences include: laboratory work in microbiology and biochemistry, and field work in ecology and wildlife biology.
